okay but i have a problem with the shadowhunters motto because the most common and acceptable translation is “facilis descensus Averno” (literally meaning “easy is the descent into Hell”) (like, this is what Ovid used in Metamorphoses and scholars still use today) but the version they use (descensus Averno facilis est) is just so clunky? and it translates more to “it is easy to descend into Hell” and i mean it’s technically correct but still… it bothers me… sorry for ranting like a fuckin nerd

alright but the parallels between Alec and Bucky Barnes kill me because like… they both weren’t in control of themselves (by way of possession and brainwashing, respectively) but they still saw the harm they’ve done and the people they’ve hurt and they see themselves doing it… and they both don’t think they’re worth forgiving because like… it’s just instinct to beat themselves up over it…
